Penguins: Do three requirements including the two starred *
_____ 1.* Learn the difference between line, color, shape and texture.
_____ 2.* Make four pieces of art using four different techniques (painting, printing, drawing, sculpting) or four different media (watercolors, pencils, ink, clay).
Otters: Do four requirements including the two starred *
_____ 1.* Do Penguin requirements 1 & 2.
_____ 2.* Make a piece of art that emphasizes one of the elements of art [line, color, space, form, shape, texture, value].
Dolphins: Do five requirements including the two starred *
_____1.* Do Otter requirements 1 & 2, plus find a picture of a piece of art that emphasizes a second element of art.
_____2.* Make a piece of art that emphasizes one of the principles of art [emphasis, balance, harmony, variety, proportion, rhythm, movement, unity].
Butterflies: Do six requirements including the two starred *
_____1.* Do Dolphin requirements 1 & 2. Find pictures that emphasis at least 3 elements of art and 3 principles of art.
_____2.* Choose a subject (pine trees, poodles or daisies for example) and make two pieces of art in your choice of either two different media or two different styles.
Eagles: Do seven requirements including the two starred *
_____1.* Do Butterfly requirements 1 & 2.
_____2.* Read or watch a biography or documentary on an artist.
Owls: Do nine requirements including the two starred *
_____ 1.* Do Eagle requirements 1 & 2.
_____ 2.* Teach someone how to do a skill from this badge or teach some knowledge about this badge to someone. You can teach kids, your spouse, seniors, anyone, just as long as you are sharing your new found knowledge. If for some reason you cannot teach what you have learned to someone else, you may choose an additional 2 optional requirements instead.
_____ 3. Compare 5 pieces of art of the same general medium that are done in 5 different styles. For example, if you choose painting you might compare paintings that are impressionistic, expressionistic, realistic, modern, and cubist. If you choose ink, you might compare line drawings, pointillist, etching, sketches, and cartoons.
_____4. Enter an art contest or sell some of your art.
_____5. Attend a juried art show or tour a museum with an art wing.
_____6. Watch an artist work or give a demonstration.
_____7. Send a piece of your art to someone who could use some cheer (faraway relative, sick person or soldier).
_____8. What are the theories behind art therapy? Research the profession.
_____9. Do something to help an artist (such as clean his studio or wash his paint rags), an art organization, or help your parents take care of your family's art---dust picture frames for a week, or move mementos to acid-free paper.
_____10. Earn the Art History badge.
_____11. Attend an art workshop or help put one together for younger girls.
_____12. How do health, the economy, personality, and scientific advances affect artists? Give examples of each.
_____ 13. Learn 3 new techniques in the art form of your choice. This requirement may be repeated.
